Fairfield is one of the poorest and most diverse neighbourhoods in Sydney. In the last year land prices in Fairfield have been rising sharply, a phenomenon the local papers blame on the high number of refugees living in the area. This project looks at issues of urban displacement on both a global and local scale for an exhibition about gentrification, Factory Fetish, at Westspace, Melbourne.
Footage for this film has been re-edited and combined with new material from 1001 Nights in Fairfield a 17:33min film commissioned by Powerhouse Youth Theatre, Fairfield.
